Objektiv #20 For this twentieth issue, in the tenth year of the magazine, we’ve invited twenty artists to contribute. Objektiv #19 This year's issues will look backwards and forward, they will act as a summary of the last 10 years of camera-based art, and try to see where we are going in the future. Objektiv celebrates its tenth year in 2019, and in this issue, we're asking artists who have featured in its first eighteen issues to "pay it forward," so to speak, and interview a younger artist working with photography that they feel deserves a larger platform. Contributors: Delphine Bedel, Lucas Blalock, Tiago Bom, Kåre Bulie, Travis Diehl, Federico Clavarino, Camille Henrot, Preben Holst, Jenny Kinge, Mårten Lange, Jumana Manna, Kobie Nel, Diane Severin Nguyen, Mónica Martins Nunes, Frida Orupabo, Brian Sholis, Marianna Simnett, Lisa A. Objektiv 15&16 Subjektiv’s fulcrum is the potential relationship between art, politics and subjectivity at a time when the basis of democratic subjecthood is being called into question. One of our early editorial meetings took place the day after the US presidential election and its unexpected outcome impacted our conversation. This two-part issue and its accompanying exhibition at Malmö Konsthall ( and later at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo) result from a collaborative, inherently subjective dialogue between the five members of the editorial board. Part one features individual presentations of the nine artists’ work and words. Contributors: Basma Alsharif, Lucas Blalock, Sara Cwynar, Gösta Flemming, Egija Inzule, Ida Kierulf, Lars Bang Larsen, Liz Magic Laser, Deana Lawson, Zoe Leonard, Sandra Mujinga, Eline Mugaas, Christine Rebet, Brian Sholis, Lisa Bernhoft-Sjødin,  Elise Storsveen, Susanne Østby Sæther, Mark Titchner, Josephine Pryde. Part two present recent critical perspectives on the issues at stake. Contributors: Andrianna Campbell, Basim Magdy, Brendan Wattenberg, Chris Wiley, Cora Fisher, Damir Avdagic, Elodie Stroecken, Hannah Whitaker, Hinde Haest, Kerstin Hamilton, Kristian Skylstad, Lauren Davis, Lillian Davies, Maj Hasager, Matthew Rana, Mitch Epstein, Morten Andenæs, Penelope Umbrico, Prajna Desnai, Rosa Barba, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, Sebastian Hau, Shannon Ebner, Stanley Wolakau-Wanambwa, Susanne Winterling, Torbjørn Rødland, Travis Diehl. 10€

Objektiv #7 SOLD OUT What is the current state of photography in the Nordic countries? What conditions, economic, political, technical or material, are governing the production of photographic images? Is there such a thing as a Nordic expression? And if it exists, what defines it? These are the questions that the photo magazines asked in this special issue. Featuring portfolios by over fifty established and upcoming Nordic artists such as JH Engström, Joakim Eskildsen, Erica Kovanen, Mårten Lange, Nelli Palomäki, RAX, Marie Sjøvold and Jacob Aue Sobol, it provides an extensive overview of contemporary Nordic photography. The publication includes essays by leading critics and curators from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland such as Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger from the Finnish Museum of Photography, Anna Tellgren from Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Mette Sandbye from the University of Copenhagen. nordic now! also includes interviews with representatives from Nordic institutions that support and promote photography such as Maria Karen Sigurdursdottir from Reykjavik Museum of Photography and Timothy Persons, co- founder of the Helsinki School. These are complemented by an interview with the legendary picture editor Kathy Ryan from the New York Times Magazine, who gives an outside view of Nordic contemporary photography, which she says combines “a spirited, nude, happy, paradise imagery with the intimate, close-to-home, metaphorical landscape.”
